Yesterday, Besiktas won the Turkish Super Lig title for the 15th time in their history. One of Besiktas’ key players in their title win was Oguzhan Ozyakup, which has brought him to the attention of other clubs, including Aston Villa.
Ozyakup spoke to reporters after yesterday’s game and was asked about his future with the Turkish side.
Ozyakup said: ”You know that I have a target to play in Europe one day. I’m very happy that I’ve achieved what I wanted at Besiktas. Back to back championships is good. Now I’ll go to holiday and think about my future. Anything can happen but I’ll decide on the holiday.”
Only last month we covered reports from Turkey that Aston Villa are in the race to sign Ozyakup, and had sent a scout to get a lowdown on the former Arsenal youth player. It was also claimed Aston Villa faced competition from other English clubs to sign player.
However, with Aston Villa failing to bounce back to the Premier League it will be difficult convincing Ozyakup to play in the Championship given the clubs following the player.
