Real Madrid need to sell several players this summer, and Lucas Vazquez is one of those thought to be available for transfer.
Arsenal were linked by Mundo Deportivo a couple of weeks ago, and they were pretty sure the Gunners want to sign him.
Mundo Deportivo explained Unai Emery wants the player as a wing-back in a 3-5-2 system. Although Vazquez plays mostly as a winger, he was also a wing-back and a right-back for Real Madrid last season.
The 28 year old is a flexible player and known for his hard work, a good option to have in a squad. He wants to get to Euro 2020 with the Spanish national team, so could seek minutes elsewhere.
It all went quiet, and now there’s more claims from Spain.
Defensa Central, a Real Madrid website, say they’ve been told Arsenal have ‘launched their first attempt’ to sign the player.
Madrid have wanted €40m, with the Premier League working to get them down to €30m.
Arsenal are ‘willing to invest €30m plus bonuses’ to sign Vazquez, with Inter Milan also said to be interested.
If they could get that €30m down just a little then this would look a very steady signing.
The Defensa Central claims are being taken seriously elsewhere in Spain, and over at ElDesmarque they also report Arsenal interest.
This is a story to keep an eye on.
