Arsenal’s interest in Real Madrid striker Luka Jovič is causing a problem for AC Milan, who are also keen to sign the Serbian this summer.
The Gunners were linked with a move for the Real Madrid forward this month, with it claimed he was the leading candidate to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should he leave.
It was claimed he ‘occupies a leading role’ in Mikel Arteta’s thinking, despite his disappointing performances since arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer.
And, according to Sport, that interest is causing a problem for Milan, who want to reunite Jovič with his former Frankfurt partner Ante Rebić.
They were keen on him last summer before his move to Madrid and want to link him with Rebić after the pair managed 37 goals and 13 assists between them last season.
One issue is Madrid’s determination to give Jović a chance to prove himself, but they could ‘rethink their plans’ if a proposal arrives that could see them recoup most of the €60m they paid.
Milan’s bigger issue is the interest from Arsenal and Napoli, which it’s claimed has ‘added difficulty’ to their attempts to get him, suggesting he would prioritise a move to either of those clubs first.
Whether either ever do enter the bidding remains to be seen, with that likely to rest on whether they need to find replacements for their current stars or not.
In Arsenal’s case, that is Aubameyang, with his future likely to dictate the majority of the business that the Gunners do end up doing this summer.
