Linked last year with a move to Leicester City, Djené Dakonam, or just Djené for short, is now on Arsenal’s radar.
The Togo international plays at centre-back for Getafe in La Liga, hugely impressing this season as his team have become the surprise package of the campaign, currently sitting fourth in the table with three games to go.
In desperate need of some extra quality at the back, the Gunners have turned their attention to the 27-year-old, according to Marca on Thursday, and ‘want to buy him’ this summer.
As things stand, no offer has been made, but the Spanish newspaper claim Arsenal have expressed their interest in him in various exchanges.
Receiving a number of bids for his star defender last year, Getafe’s president, Angel Torres, and the player agreed on him staying an extra season, which he did, meaning he will be allowed to leave this summer.
In order to acquire his services, however, clubs will have to trigger his release clause, which stands at an affordable €35m.
Even for Arsenal, that’s doable.
