Arsenal are yet to make a ‘concrete offer’ for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez and will have work to do to convince them to sell if they do.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who cover the situation around the midfielder today and make it clear Betis do not want to lose one of their key players.
They explain that news of Arsenal’s interest, which has been widely reported in Spain and reported in England to boot, has been ‘pouring in from London’.
Betis aren’t interested in a sale, though, and the club’s directors have made it clear that there are other players they want to sell first, such as William Carvalho, Cristian Tello and Loren Morón.
At this moment in time, ‘many have asked’ about Rodriguez’s situation, but there has been no ‘concrete offer’ from anyone, Arsenal included.
When that does happen, Betis have prepared a strong response: ‘These are the cancellation clauses of the Green and Whites squad’.
In other words, pay his release clause.
That figure currently stands at around €80m, a huge price for a midfielder who cost just £2.7m from CF América in January 2020.
Indeed, Betis have no intention to part ways with him and are even planning a contract renewal with the player so they can ‘reward him for their work and commitment’.
Those are not the actions of a club wanting to sell or even one willing to negotiate, meaning Arsenal face a fight if their interest in Rodriguez is as serious as the claims suggest.
