Newcastle United are one of the clubs keen on signing Málaga CF’s Antonio Cordero in the summer window.

Last month, we covered claims from Spain which stated the 18-year-old is getting closer to the Magpies. It was also reported his family made a trip to England to visit Newcastle’s facilities.

Thursday’s edition of Marca has a short report on the winger and Newcastle United are mentioned.

The youngster has managed five goals and six assists from 28 league games for the second division Spanish club. His performances have seen him attract interest from Newcastle, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Marca claim Eddie Howe’s side have made a ‘strong bid’ for the attacker, without giving any details. They add FC Porto have become the latest club to join the transfer chase.

Online, Marca also state Porto have ‘entered the fight’ with others to sign Cordero in the next window.

The Spain U19 international’s contract expires in June and will leave Málaga after this season, but it’s unclear as to where he will move next.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are in the picture while there’s ‘significant interest’ from the Tyneside club, who have also made an offer.

Marca relay Canal Sur Radio’s claim that Porto have a serious possibility of convincing the youngster after making a tempting proposal.

The Portuguese club have matched the financial conditions proposed by Newcastle. This likely includes a five-year contract and a salary that Málaga will find it difficult to match.

Porto have ‘entered the fight strongly’ for the youngster and the report states their offer could tip the balance in the Dragons’ favour.

Newcastle have to act quickly and convince Cordero if they want to secure his services.
