With just Cédric Soares in the squad to play at right-back in Takehiro Tomiyasu’s absence, seeing Arsenal being linked with a new right-back isn’t overly surprising.

After all, the Portuguese player has his limits, and with the Gunners pushing for a Champions League spot, they will need better players in the long run to add strength in depth in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

One of those could be Sergiño Dest, currently at Barcelona, who could be on the move this summer.

The USA international has been a player used by both Ronald Koeman and Xavi this season, but there have been doubts about his long term future at the La Liga side, with teams such as Arsenal reportedly taking an interest.

This comes in an article from Calcio Napoli 24, who try to clarify the situation surrounding the 21-year-old, making it clear that despite other reports, he has not been offered to Napoli.

It’s not something they would pursue either, knowing that ‘important European clubs’ are tracking the player, as ‘the eyes of Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Atlético Madrid would have been there for some time’.

That’s caused Barcelona to ‘set the price’ for a potential transfer, even if on paper they have ‘no intention of getting rid of him’, with it said that Dest would ‘only and exclusively’ leave Catalonia if an offer ‘not inferior to €20m’ was made

This is likely due to the fact the La Liga giants initially paid £18.9m for him, and will want to make their money back, which is also why Napoli won’t be joining in this pursuit, as ‘it seems very difficult for Aurelio De Laurentiis to shell out such a sum’ for the player.

Arsenal, on the other hand… Well, they have been spending a bit more freely of late…
