After plucking Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient over the summer, Arsenal and Unai Emery are turning their attention to the French market once again ahead of the next transfer window.

That is, at least, what their scouting trips would have you believe, as Mercato365 reported on Thursday that a representative for the Gunners was in the stands this week to watch Bordeaux vs Guingamp, which ended 0-0.

Unlike a lot of these reports, a name has emerged as the likely target for the Arsenal trip, and it’s Marcus Thuram.

The young forward, son of 1998 World Cup winner Lilian, has impressed hugely with the Ligue 1 side this season despite them sitting rock bottom in the league with 15 points from 25 games.

Scoring 11 goals in 25 appearances, Thuram, who can play on either wing or through the middle, is described as the main even for the Gunners, but a couple of other names could have also caught their eye, such as Jules Koundé (a young centre-back) or Yann Karamoh (on loan at Bordeaux from Inter).

Arsenal were joined by scouts from Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and Marseille.
