Right in the middle of strong rumours saying Everton Cebolinha could be heading to Arsenal this summer, the player’s wife has just thrown some wood on the fire.
On an Instagram post, she’s shown that the Brazilian has been taking English classes, doing some exercises on his own.
It didn’t take very long until Brazil’s biggest sports media outlet, Globo Esporte, reported it as ‘Destination: Arsenal? Wife records Everton Cebolinha in English class’.
Globo Esporte not only covered the news, but also added some updates on the situation, making it look like Arsenal are indeed the favourites to sign the Grêmio star.
It’s said the Gunners are currently preparing a bid of €40m for Everton. His staff believes the offer could be made still this week.
So there’s a chance the player could miss the Porto Alegre derby against Internacional on Saturday. Given the rivalry between the clubs, we’re pretty sure he would only be out of the match in case something really serious is happening.
Globo Esporte says the negotiations are complicated, because Grêmio are not in need of selling, and keep saying they want €40m for their part.
Problem is that they only own 50% of the player. Other 30% goes to his agent Gilmar Veloz, other 10% to his former club Fortaleza, and the other 10% to an investor.
Since Arsenal are pretty unlikely to spend €80m on Everton, it seems some long negotiations must happen first.
