There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Besiktas are looking to sign Arsenal midfielder Jorginho during the next transfer window or in the summer.
The Italian international has struggled to get minutes this season despite selection issues in Arsenal’s midfield.
Sabah today report on Besiktas’ pursuit of the Arsenal player, and they say the Turkish side have already started their attempts to sign the veteran midfielder.
Besiktas brought in Giovanni van Bronckhorst as their new coach in the summer and the former Gunner is looking to bolster his squad in the coming transfer windows.
According to the Turkish media outlet, the Super Lig side are close to convincing Jorginho over a possible transfer and are looking to sign him on a free agent basis. Besiktas want to bring in the Arsenal man in January, but it’s likelier they will have to wait until the summer window.
Despite injuries and suspensions to the Arsenal midfield this season the 32-year-old has played just three Premier League games. He’s contracted to the Gunners until next summer, but they do have the option to extend his contract for another season.
Should Jorginho want the move he’d have to convince Arsenal to give up on that option.
