One of the biggest talking points of last summer in the Ligue 1 transfer window, Jean-Michael Seri’s future appeared to either be in the Premier League or over in Catalonia.

A move to Barcelona appeared all but done, only for it to break down at the last minute, much to the Ivory Coast international’s annoyance.

After staying an extra season in the south of France, it seems this summer could be the one we see Seri finally move to a bigger club, and L’Equipe are pretty adamant the Premier League will be his next destination.

Manchester City have, for quite some time now, been the favourites, with reported meetings between Pep Guardiola’s side and Seri’s agent.

Chelsea then came along and ‘initiated contact’ to ‘learn about the conditions for a transfer’ even though anyone who has followed the transfer rumour mill, even from a distance, will know €40m will do the trick.

On Monday, however, L’Equipe report that Arsenal, through the arrival of Raul Sanllehi, have now joined the list of suitors, with the former Barcelona board member enjoying a ‘good relationship’ with the midfielder’s agent despite Seri’s failed transfer to Spain.

Does that mean Arsenal have the advantage now considering how close the Nice star was to teaming up with Lionel Messi last year?

That isn’t made entirely clear, but Arsenal’s emergence on the matter, by the sound of things, certainly isn’t to be ignored, and it seems Arsène Wenger’s successor could end up having to try and fit Seri into his midfield.
