Ligue 1 side Lyon have called off negotiations for Houssem Aouar and Memphis Depay, ending the chances of them move to Arsenal and Barcelona respectively.

That’s according to RMC Sport, who say that the club’s ‘communications department’ have insisted neither player will be leaving the club this summer.

Depay had been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona to link up with Ronald Koeman while Aouar is a target for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Both deals have been stuck in the mud for a couple of weeks, though, and it seems the French side have now had enough of waiting for something to happen.

RMC explain that Lyon had set a deadline of Saturday afternoon for both transfers to be done, with Jean-Michel Aulas, their president, allowing extra time for both players to find an agreement with their suitors.

A source told the website on Friday evening that Depay was still pushing for Barça while Aouar was in talks with Juventus. Interestingly, there is no mention of Arsenal.

However, this ‘overtime’ did not yield any positive results, and so the Lyon hierarchy decided to ‘stop everything’.

The players will therefore be available to coach Rudi Garvia for the training session at the end of this afternoon and be staying at the club for the foreseeable future.
