Claims that Bordeaux are very keen on taking Mathieu Debuchy back to the club, seem to have been more popular in England than they have been in France.
Debuchy was something of a coup for Bordeaux in the winter transfer window, as the fullback looked to get game time ahead of Euro 2016. The former Newcastle United player believed that he’d be able to impress Didier Deschamps during the loan move, and then make the squad for France’s home tournament.
However, Debuchy once again saw injury woes hit him at the worst possible time, and therefore he wasn’t able to impress at Bordeaux. That could be why the story isn’t making huge waves in the French media.
RMC know the financial limits on most French clubs and they say that if Arsenal are ‘too greedy financially’ that Bordeaux would instead look at another loan. Debuchy’s wages may also be an issue, with the player perhaps not as keen to give up a chunk as he was when chasing Euro 2016.
