Set to return to Arsenal this summer after his second loan spell at Roma has come to an end, Wojciech Szczesny looks increasingly likely to be heading back to Italy next year, but on a permanent deal.

On Tuesday, we relayed the news from Italy the player had said yes to the contract offered by Napoli, even if both Arsenal and the Serie A side were yet to reach an agreement, which still gave West Ham time to get something done.

However, a third club is said to have come forward for the Poland international, as Tuttosport in Italy claim Juventus have offered Szczesny a four-year deal to be Gianluigi Buffon’s successor.

While this all sounds like the ideal move for the 27-year-old, Juventus have also told him that if he were to agree, he would have to sit on the bench all of next season as the club legend is yet to call it a day on his career.

Considering next year is a World Cup year, we can’t see Szczesny saying yes to this, even if the €4m/year offered by Juventus is a very attractive proposal.

Tuttosport say those in charge of Juventus’ transfers are working on this, but, to be perfectly honest, it might all be for nothing.

Szczesny, after two years of first-team football at Roma, will be wanting guaranteed time on the pitch next season.

And if he’s happy sitting on a bench, he can do that at Arsenal.
