Ever since he made his debut in the EFL Cup last season for Arsenal in a 3-0 loss against Sheffield Wednesday, Arsenal fans have been excited about the prospect of Alex Iwobi.
Gradually becoming a regular in Arsène Wenger’s setup, the Nigeria international has shown this season he is capable of becoming a key figure for the Gunners in years to come, something he wants to achieve.
Speaking to Today in Nigeria, the player’s father, Chuka, explained that under no circumstance did his son want to leave Arsenal in the near future, even if it was for more money.
He said: “In football, you never say no, but at this point in time, he’s at the right place. He’s doing well at Arsenal, but should any club come for him now, the answer would certainly be no.
“For him, it’s not about the money, so should a club like Barcelona come with more money, he will certainly stay at Arsenal, because for now, it’s about concentrating on his career, progressing and going onto the next stage.”
Chuka Iwobi went on to explain he saw his son staying at the Emirates for ‘many, many years’.
Such words will undoubtedly be music to the ears of Arsenal fans.
Iwobi has already made 14 appearances for the Gunners so far this season, picking up three assists along the way.
