There’s plenty of players in world football who completely split opinion, and Romelu Lukaku is undoubtedly one of them.

Some think he’s a top striker and will point to his excellent record in England as proof. On the other hand, some question his ability on the ball and doubt if he’s suitable for a truly top club.

It seems Antonio Conte is in the former category, and he wants to take him to Inter Milan this summer, although a deal with Manchester United is proving hard to complete.

Most of the holdup has been over the price, with United looking to recoup most, if not all, of the significant fee they paid to Everton for him two summers ago.

Whether they can get that remains to be seen, Lukaku hasn’t exactly shone for the club over the past 12 months, even if he’s certainly contributed.

Antonio Cassano has questioned about the potential move, and he didn’t hold back in sharing his thoughts about Lukaku.

“Lukaku at Inter? I dislike it, and at €85m it’s madness,” he told Sky Italy, via Tuttomercatoweb.

“Since Juventus want Icardi, rather, it favours the passage of Gonzalo Higuain to Inter, perhaps with an economic adjustment. For me, Higuain is stronger than Icardi.”
