At the end of the summer transfer window, one of the biggest rumours in the market had been Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential departure from Manchester United.
Among the possibilities on the table for the Portuguese star, there was said to be a switch to Napoli, with the Red Devils trying to push for a deal which involve the swap of Victor Osimhen.
Nothing happened back then, and the Italian media many times explained that Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of the Serie A side, made huge demands for that deal. Now it seems that the transfer to Manchester United wasn’t being taken very seriously by Osimhen’s entourage either.
The striker’s agent Roberto Calenda was now interviewed by Kiss Kiss’ show Radio Goal, and speaking of his client’s transfer situation, he gave a mention to what happened in the summer.
“I was immediately clear this summer because I knew that a fuss would happen for news coming out of those who perhaps had other interests. Me, the boy and Napoli had clear ideas. Victor never had the will to leave Napoli. He always had one desire, that of playing a great season between the league and the Champions League. He has a long contract with the blue club. The transfer market is dynamic, but our desire is to continue to do well at Napoli.”
As Area Napoli covers the quotes, they take the words about those ‘other interests’ as a ‘clear reference to the possible swap with Cristiano Ronaldo’.
With eight goals and four assists this season, Osimhen continues to impress at Napoli and will certainly continue being one of the most wanted players in the market.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, has only scored twice for Manchester United in 2022/23.
