As Brighton & Hove Albion continue to be linked to Boca Juniors star Valentin Barco, we today get to see interesting quotes about the midfielder in the Argentine media.
Those come from former Seagulls player Alexis Mac Allister, who had a conversation with D Sports Radio this week.
Quoted by Dataref, the World Cup champion talked about the potential Barco has and the big expectations around him.
“I had the chance to see him and I’m not saying anything new when I say he’s a great player. He has a lot of ability and even when it looks like the opponents are going to take the ball away from him, nobody can take it away from him.
“He’s still young and we have to take it little by little. I see him very focused, even if sometimes on the pitch he sometimes throws a little bit too much. He can be a very important player for our country and represent us very well in Europe.”
With the end of the Copa Libertadores, European clubs are now expected to make stronger moves to get Barco signed from Boca Juniors.
This week, TyC Sports featured a story claiming Brighton had already made an attempt to sign the player in the summer, being the only club who actually got in touch with the Buenos Aires side about a transfer.
The Seagulls are still said to be in the race for the signing, with competition from the likes of Manchester City and RB Leipzig.
Brighton recently lost Mac Allister to Liverpool, but could soon have another young Argentine talent in their midfield, in case this race is won.
