L’Equipe have a feature in their Tuesday edition on agent Pini Zahavi, his role with PSG and how that’s now changing to bring others into the picture.
Remaining one of the most prominent men around big transfers, the French newspaper say Zahavi received €12m for his part in Neymar’s transfer from Barcelona in the summer, not bad for a deal done for the player’s buyout clause.
Neymar wasn’t the only transfer Zahavi helped PSG with, and L’Equipe report he also played a part in getting Serge Aurier to Tottenham Hotspur 2 months ago.
With great connections in the Premier League, it’s stated that Zahavi’s relationship with Daniel Levy was beneficial to PSG to help get the Aurier deal through.
It was a difficult transfer for the fullback, with his long standing legal issues creating a work permit problem. Tottenham spent a lot of time and effort overcoming that, perhaps with the help of Zahavi’s connections, and it showed how much Mauricio Pochettino wanted the player.
Levy’s well documented trip to Paris seemed out of the ordinary at the time, and perhaps that’s what L’Equipe are getting at when they reference Zahavi’s closeness to the Tottenham chief helped get things moving.
It’s not stated how much Pini Zahavi received for Serge Aurier’s €20m+ transfer to Tottenham.
