Just last week, we covered news from Portugal which reported the many offers that Rodrigo Battaglia may have to leave Sporting this summer.

Newspaper O Jogo claimed that there are some Italian sides interested in the midfielder, while West Ham United are the club who could take him to the Premier League.

Now the updates are coming from Italy, and have a lot to do with those first reports. Calcio Mercato are claiming that Battaglia’s agent is coming from Argentina to Europe, and is set to listen to offers from Italy, England and Spain.

Only the Serie A sides are mentioned, with Napoli and Roma being put in the race. West Ham aren’t specifically named this time.

Calcio Mercato claims that despite having a €60m release clause, the midfielder is considered to be worth €30m.

They say that since Battaglia would like to play for the Italian national team, as he holds an Italian passport and never played for Argentina, that could help the local clubs to sign him. We pretty much doubt that, given the hype that the Premier League has been living in the past few years.

Now what West Ham should know after William Carvalho’s saga is that it shouldn’t be easy to find a deal with Sporting. So the bids for Battaglia must be pretty good.
