Watford’s Gerard Deulofeu was linked to several clubs from Serie A in the summer and we covered various reports talking about interest from Milan, Napoli and AS Roma.

Last month, Calciomercato explained the Naples based club were the only side who were ‘really interested’ in the Spaniard, while AC Milan turned down an opportunity to sign the former Barcelona man on three different occasions.

Speaking to Marca in April, the 25-year-old didn’t rule out the possibility of leaving the Hornets in the last window.

It was not clear if the forward wanted to leave Vicarage Road in the summer, but even if he had wished for it, Watford wouldn’t have entertained it. This is according to his agent Albert Botines.

“There’s been talks with more clubs including Milan but Watford has decided not to listen to offers in the end,” Deulofeu representative told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“They have strengthened well with many players. Have a philosophy of buying for low cost and selling for a higher fee. They work well on transfers and now Gerard is happy in London.”

However, his tune was a little different when he spoke to Sky Sport in Italy, relayed by Calciomercato.it, saying: “He remained very close to Milan and could one day return, but we must see how things evolve.

“Milan fans write to him on social media to return. Gerard likes Serie A and Italian football and so, one day, something could happen. He signed a 5-year contract with Watford, is tied to the club with a long contract and last year had a great season.”

Deulofeu has featured in every league game this season, scoring two goals in the process. Those goals came in Watford’s defeat against Chelsea and their victory over Norwich City earlier this month.
