Manolo Gabbiadini’s arrival at Southampton was today recalled in the Italian media.
Representative Roberto De Fanti was interviewed by CalcioNapoli24, and spoke about some his clients, as well as the recent transactions he was involved in the past few years.
It was in January 2017 that Napoli accepted to sell Gabbiadini to Southampton. Back then, the Italian side accepted a €17m fee for his departure.
The agent recalled how smooth that operation was, despite the short time they had to complete the transfer.
“Manolo was not finding space, he was managed by Silvio Pagliari. I experienced the negotiation as an intermediary on the Southampton side. He wasn’t finding the space he wanted at Napoli and we thought the Premier League was the right place,” De Fanti told CalcioNapoli24.
Gabbiadini stayed at Southampton for two years, as he left for Sampdoria in January 2019. In his time with the Saints, he had 12 goals in 60 appearances.
The move to Sampdoria ended up working very well for him, as he spent four and a half years there, and that ended up becoming the club where he played the most, with 177 matches.
It was last summer that Gabbiadini decided to leave Europe, and agreed top a three-year deal with Al-Nasr.
He’s showing some good shape there, with ten goals and two assists in 16 matches, and since he’s still 32, maybe a return to the top leagues is still a possibility.
