After a week of some interesting stories about Manchester City’s pursuit of Brazilian star Everton, we’ve had some big developments in the past 72 hours.

It all started on Friday, when it was claimed that the player has already reached a personal agreement with the Premier League champions.

Fox Sports journalist Rodrigo Bueno said Everton accepted a five-year contract worth €4.5m per season at the English side. It was said that agent Gilmar Veloz has even looked for houses in Manchester.

However, he says the clubs still need to find a deal. It was claimed that Manchester City offered €45m plus bonuses, while Grêmio demanded €60m paid at once.

On Sunday morning, Gabriel Jesus spoke to the Brazilian press, and said he’s been talking to Everton about the Manchester City move.

“I’ve lived that moment. I even joked with him about City these days during a training session,” said Gabriel Jesus (via ESPN). “But Everton is a family man, he knows what he’s doing. I hope he decides what’s best for his life and career. Let him go somewhere, or stay at Grêmio, but the important thing is to be happy.”

Then on Sunday afternoon, Zero Hora published an interview with Everton’s agent, Gilmar Veloz. This is probably one of the most sincere interviews you’ll see with an agent, since he’s explained the whole situation the player is involved in.

“There is nothing. We have to be very careful, take responsibility with the fans, with me and the boy. We can’t create stories on something that does not exist,” Gilmar Veloz told Zero Hora.

“I’ve been there in January. In March, I went to see a game of the Portuguese Cup and I met Txiki. We talked. At this point, he has more attackers than he could have. There is no possibility of the sale. In football, you have to wait. If he sells two, three attackers, there may be [a possibility]. The window in the Premier League runs from 8 July to 8 August. In other markets, it extends to until September 3. The point is that, at the moment, there isn’t the slightest possibility.

“They have their priority. It’s not because Everton had good games that will rush out to buy him, things don’t work that way, but with planning. Everyone already knew Everton. But now he’s creating his space at the Seleção, consolidating himself. Everton will move on to another level. We have to be calm.

“They have three waiting for a place, the guys who are on the bench and playing the cups. It’s not Everton who will get there and play. He has to be careful, know where he will be the best. Everyone who calls me, I say you need to speak to the president. We have to be careful. Everton is very calm, he doesn’t talk about it. When he gets back, if anything comes up, we’ll talk. If not, follow the normal path at Grêmio. We have to take responsibility, otherwise everyone goes crazy. No one came, made a paper and said ‘I’m going to take him’ or ‘I’ll sit down and negotiate’. By website or radio, no one will buy Everton.”

Now this Monday, website Zero Hora brought another story. This time they claim to have spoken to Grêmio’s board as well.

It’s said that Grêmio want at least €40m for their share of Everton, which is 50%. It’s claimed that Manchester City haven’t made an offer and haven’t signalled that they will make one. His agent is said to be just waiting for things to happen, regardless of the club who will come for the player.
