Wolverhampton Wanderers fan may remember that the Championship side were said to be one of the competitors to take Rafa Silva from Benfica in the January market.
Living through bad form at the Lisbon club, the midfielder could have been loaned out during the winter transfer window, something that did not happen.
Now Silva has made a big turnaround for Benfica, with three good performances in a row, and finally getting close to the level which everyone expected from him.
That’s the reason why his agent is back in the headlines, claiming there are clubs interested in taking him out of Portugal, especially to England.
But today, speaking to O Jogo, a different speech has come, and this time, the Wolves may have a chance.
“It’s not bull**** talk, it’s a fact. The situations that we managed to get to the Benfica president were credible proposals, real, of English clubs that are still interested in taking him.”
“It wasn’t just talk. Benfica understood that it was not the moment because they needed the player. We talked to Rafa, we told him to be patient and fight,” Antonio Araujo told O Jogo.
The situation in the summer would be a bit different. Rafa Silva won’t be loaned out anymore, so Wolves would need to convince Benfica with a good offer. And we all know how good negotiators the Portuguese side can be.
