Leicester City’s chase for the Porto right-back Ricardo Pereira is big news in the Portuguese press on Wednesday.
Local newspaper O Jogo gives a lot of attention to the story, claiming that the Foxes are seriously going for the player in the summer market.
The attempt is an order from manager Claude Puel, who worked with Ricardo Pereira for two seasons at French side Nice.
That’s why the Premier League club have made the player a ‘priority’ in the transfer window, and will try to sort out the situation even this week.
Ricardo Pereira is currently protected by a €37.5m release clause, and what Leicester City are trying to do is to get the player for less than that.
Even though his contract expires in the next year, Porto are unlikely to bend much, since the right-back is considered to be one of the most valuable players in the squad.
Newspaper Correio da Manhã also has a story on the transfer, calling Pereira a ‘maximum priority’ as well. They claim the deal could end up being done for around €30m.
