It was bound to happen after Corriere dello Sport shoved it down everyone’s throat, but Il Mattino have finally mentioned Liverpool’s alleged interest in Sime Vrsaljko, but that’s all they say, that it’s interest.
There’s no mention of talks or meetings, but they do report that Napoli, after making a €20m offer for the Croatian, are now turning their attention to Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo as Atlético Madrid refuse to budge on their €25m demand.
This has worked out amazingly for the Spanish side, as Corriere dello Sport now report Juventus (who have more money than Napoli) have turned their attention to Vrsaljko as Stephan Lichsteiner could be on his way out of Turin.
Don’t worry, though, they haven’t forgotten Liverpool.
In fact, they’re going a step further these days, claiming Jürgen Klopp’s side are ‘moving concretely on the player’.
We’re assuming that means they’re in talks of some sort, beyond the approach to Andrea Berta they supposedly made a few days ago.
Frankly, we’re still not really buying it and find it all very convenient that Il Mattino finally report Liverpool’s interest the same day Napoli supposedly drop out just as Corriere claim Juventus are now on the scene.
We might also be far too cynical, as always.
