Manchester City were always going to be linked with Espanyol’s Aaron ahead of the January transfer window, it was inevitable.
Towards the end of the summer market, Sport claimed a €20m offer from Manchester City for the fullback, and whilst they had to somewhat backtrack on that claims following an Espanyol denial, they refused to give it up completely.
The line changed to Espanyol denying a formal offer, whereas Manchester City’s approach had been informal.
It’s explained Manchester City are now expected to return for Aaron in January, to bolster Pep Guardiola’s options for the second half of the season. Aaron’s buyout clause is €30m, but next summer it increases to €40m, making a January move potentially cheaper.
