On Tuesday, RMC Sport in France reported that Huddersfield Town were interested in Sochaux’s Mickaël Alphonse, who was voted the best right-back in Ligue 2 last season.
David Wagner is clearly intent on bolstering the position, despite not conceding a goal yet in the Premier League, with another name of his shortlist appears to have filtered, as according to Yahoo! Sport in France, Lorient’s Steven Moreira is also a potential target for the Terriers.
Younger than Alphonse (28), the 23-year-old is certainly an interesting idea as a backup for Tom Smith, as Huddersfield don’t technically have a natural replacement for the club captain.

With a tough season ahead, even if it has started rather promisingly, quality in depth will be needed, and we’ll have to see who Wagner ends up going for.
Sochaux were said to be very reluctant to see their star defender go, so a move for Moreira could become a reality if Alphonse’s exit becomes a complicated one.
It’s just a name on a shortlist for now, though, and there’s still eight days to get something done, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for any updates.
