Alex Sandro to Chelsea has been a mess of a transfer rumour. Insinuations from the Italian media have been sent over to England, turned into something far more concrete, and sent back with a cherry on top.

Chelsea fans have at times been encouraged to be far more excited than they probably should have been, and the whole thing continues in the background. Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport makes it very clear that, as far as they’ve learned, Juventus are absolutely determined not to sell Sandro.

The Brazilian going to Chelsea would provide a ‘mega gain’, and the financials of a transfer mean the temptation is real, but ‘there are cases when the budget counts less’.

So, money isn’t what bothers Juventus here, believe Gazzetta. It’s not about whether Chelsea offer €50m, €60m, or €70m, because Juventus don’t feel they could replace the fullback.

On the subject of an offer, Gazzetta say Juventus have already knocked back €60m, but don’t outright say the offer was from Chelsea, again it’s more insinuation.

The Italian media believe this route is closed, and Chelsea’s interest seems to be being played with.
