Newcastle United are doing all they can to get Emmanuel Riviere off their books this summer, and can’t be faulted for a lack of effort.
Willing to go down to a low transfer fee, L’Equipe report Newcastle accepted a €1.5m offer from Metz for the 27 year old.
Whilst that’s obviously a low amount for the forward, with Riviere being out of Rafael Benitez’s plans at Newcastle United it makes sense to get him off the wage bill, and €1.5m is better than the nothing he’ll be worth when his contract expires in June.
Newcastle and Metz may have agreed a fee, but L’Equipe say Riviere has snubbed the chance to sign for the French club, not attracted by what’s on offer to him.
An alternative has quickly presented itself in the form of Turkish side Osmanlispor, and Riviere would prefer this option, which likely comes with higher wages, edging Newcastle United closer to a transfer they clearly want.
