Over the past few months, the Spanish media have regularly named Liverpool as one of Loïc Badé’s contenders. The Premier League side aren’t alone as Newcastle United are also in the picture to sign the Sevilla player in the winter market.

That’s according to Saturday’s edition of AS, and their title says the Premier League wants to take the defender.

It’s claimed the English clubs are ‘betting heavily’ on the 24-year-old for January and only Liverpool and Newcastle are named.

The Reds and Eddie Howe’s side are closely monitoring the centre-back, while there are other clubs in the mix.

In September, the Frenchman signed an extension until 2029, and the newspaper states it includes a €60m release clause. Despite this, the La Liga side are ready to let the player leave in this window for €25-30m.

Although AS’ title says the Premier League clubs want Badé, there isn’t anything concrete within the report to indicate Liverpool and Newcastle will convert their interest into an offer this month.

Sevilla manager García Pimienta claims the Spanish club have left the door open for Badé to leave. He mentioned this when asked about the defender and Juanlu Sánchez and his comments are relayed by AS.

“That shows you the potential that Sevilla has. Badé, who is international with France and Juanlu, Olympic champion. If they end up leaving, which I hope not, we must replace them,” he said.

“The sports management informed me that Sevilla doesn’t close its doors to anything and that they’ll be in a position to replace whoever comes out.”

“If a player has to leave, another will come. I would like them to stay, but if they leave, it will be solved with guaranteed players.”
