Watford’s Ken Sema has less than a year left on his contract and his future beyond this season needs to be clarified.
The Sweden international received approaches from unnamed clubs in England and Italy, but the Hornets refused to let him leave in the summer. This was confirmed by the player himself in September.
Malmö FF are said to ‘dream’ of taking the 31-year-old away from Watford.
That’s according to Fotbolldirekt, who state they’ve made contact with the player, to convey their desire to secure his services. It’s not clear whether Malmö want to sign him in January or next summer.
Fotbolldirekt have also had a chat with the Watford player, and they specifically asked him about Malmö’s interest.
Responding to that, he said: “Where does the information come from? No, I don’t have much to say about it. I haven’t heard about it but it’s funny that you know more than I do. Maybe I’ll hear about it soon, but so far, I know nothing about it.”
The outlet further pressed what he thinks about the Swedish club wanting him, and Sema explained: “It’s always nice when someone wants you. Malmö is a big club in Sweden, No.1 in the country I would say… yes, they are by far number one in Sweden. So, it’s nice if it’s true.”
If Watford were to release the player at the end of this season, his intention is to continue playing abroad instead of returning to Sweden.
“It would have been nice to stay abroad, but I have an expiring contract… I expect to stay abroad for a while longer anyway,” he added.
