Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana has suffered a small muscle tear in his foot that will leave him out for two to three weeks.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who explains why the midfielder has been pulled out of the Belgium squad following the 1-0 defeat to Italy this week.

Belgium announced that Onana had left the group earlier today, with several Belgian players leaving Tedesco’s group through injury.

Tavolieri now reports the Aston Villa man suffered a small muscle tear in his foot in the defeat to Italy and will now be out for two to three weeks.

He doesn’t provide any more details on the matter than that, but a two-week absence would mean he misses Aston Villa’s clashes with Crystal Palace, Juventus and potentially Chelsea on 1 December. Three weeks would add Brentford on 4 December and Southampton on 7 December to that.

Aston Villa will presumably want to assess him themselves before making a determination, but the loss is undoubtedly another negative for Unai Emery’s side to deal with amid a difficult run of results before the international break.
