Ken Sema has been at Watford for many years now and has been playing regularly this season.
The Swede has played 13 times in the Championship and has been a key part of the side under manager Tom Cleverley.
Even though he has been part of the Watford furniture for years, being a regular for the Swedish national team always eluded him – until now.
He has played in every UEFA Nations League game for Sweden this season, also featuring in their 3-0 win over Estonia last night.
The 31-year-old spoke to FotbollSkanalen after the game and expressed glee at finally becoming a key part of the side.
“I am very grateful for the chance and hope that I get to play even more.”
When asked about manager Jon Dahl Tomasson, Sema seemed satisfied at the idea of playing with certainty under him.
“I think you are more focused. Before, it used to be that you knew a little about who was going to play. Now you feel that you have to step up to play.
“This means that everyone wants to play and everyone wants to participate and contribute. It makes the team stronger. He has built that up.”
Sema’s performances for Watford have obviously contributed to him getting regular game time for his national team.
He first played for his country back in 2017 and the fact that he is a key part of the side in 2024 shows how far he has come as a player in his journey.
