Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has been asked by the Danish media what his relationship is like with Old Trafford teammate Rasmus Højlund.

The two Danes have played together with the Premier League side for nearly 18 months after Højlund signed from Atalanta during the 2023 summer window.

Speaking to BT.dk ahead of Denmark’s clash with Spain on Friday night, Eriksen was asked if had become a father figure for the 21-year-old.

Eriksen jokingly said it is believed at Manchester United that they do have a father and son relationship, but the two players don’t see it that way.

“At least I know that at the club it’s a ‘father-and-son relationship’. But that’s not how we see it personally, we joke that it’s being said. I think it’s a bit mixed from day to day how it’s seen,” said the Danish international.

The veteran midfielder went on to say he has a good relationship with Højlund and the pair socialise on occasions.

“Me and ‘Ralles’ relationship is really good. We also see each other a little outside once in a while and talk a little about life,” said the 32-year-old.

Denmark will be looking to get revenge over Spain tomorrow night after losing the away tie last month.

After a good start to their UEFA Nations League campaign in September, the Danes will be looking to get back to winning ways in this international break after defeats in their past two matches.

They also face Serbia next week.
