Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to seal a 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

The clash saw Cristian Romero forced off the pitch due to an injury he picked up during a challenge with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

After the tie, Ange Postecoglou stated the Tottenham star suffered a foot injury and said he doesn’t have any further information about his setback.

TyC Sports now provide the latest on the Argentina international’s injury situation. The Copa América winners take on Paraguay and Peru in a World Cup qualifier later this month.

The 26-year-old’s injury ‘set off alarm bells’ at the national team ahead of the upcoming two matches. The report states he may have sustained a ‘bone injury’ on his right toe.

It’s claimed the Tottenham centre-back will undergo tests soon to find out the extent of the damage. Spurs and La Albiceleste coaching staff will be awaiting the test results.

Romero was seen leaving the pitch with difficulty yesterday. TyC Sports point that out and add the ‘outlook is not encouraging for what’s to come’, likely for both Tottenham and Argentina.

There should be better clarity on Romero’s situation in the coming hours.
