West Ham United appear to have revived their interest in Flamengo defender Léo Ortiz but could face competition from Juventus.
That’s according to journalist Bruno Lemos and MRN, who both cover the situation today and West Ham’s potential move for the 28-year-old.
Lemos reports that the defender has aroused interest from Juventus in Italy while Fiorentina and West Ham have shown an interest in previous windows.
MRN, covering reports from Italy and journalist Mirko Di Natale, who has reported that Juventus are looking to pay €15m for the defender.
That proposal would be ‘superior to the market’ as he’s valued at around €9m. Fans of the club have reacted negatively on social media believing he is worth much more than that.
He cost Flamengo €7m to buy in March of this year, though, so a €15m deal could present the Brazilian club with a quick profit.
West Ham are brought in to the mix as it’s explained they’ve been hovering around Flamengo for some time and made an offer for fellow defender Fabrício Bruno in the summer. They had agreed a deal worth €15m but the player rejected the move and decided to stay in Brazil.
Now his teammate is in the sights and it’s not the first time they’ve looked at him either, with a report in 2022 making it clear that they were interested in Ortiz.
It would be surprising if they’ve now decided to move given, they have four centre-backs in the first-team squad at this moment in time and spent big bringing in the likes of Maximilian Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo.
The London Stadium has become something of a landing point for Brazilians in the last few years, though, and perhaps Ortiz can be the latest to arrive.
