Dejan Kulusevski has sparkled for Tottenham Hotspur this season and playing in a central role has added a new level to his game.

His best showing came a couple of weeks ago at Old Trafford against Manchester United, with Spurs beating their rivals 3-0. Kulusevski was on song and he didn’t just score, he also created nine chances.

That is the highest any single player has created at the Theatre of Dreams since the 2003/04 season.

The Tottenham star was asked about his form and that performance during national team duty with Sweden.

He said, as relayed by AftonBladet: There was a record there that I broke. It was my plan all along to do it and I’m glad I did. When the team plays well, I play well.

Speaking about the game in general, the ex-Juventus man said: “It was great fun to play in a legendary arena and I played exactly as I wanted.”

While Kulusevski has one goal and an assist so far in the campaign, Tottenham’s inability to finish off chances has been a problem for the player, who is evolving in a creative role under Ange Postecoglou.

Instead of playing out wide like he did earlier, the 24-year-old is operating in a more central role, which is something he also did during his time with the Atalanta youth sides.

Considering how he is managing to dictate play from that role, this is perhaps where he will feature in the months to come, and if Spurs could fix their issues around finishing, the Swede’s numbers will also go up.
