Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has been described as a ‘nightmare’ in Germany after leading the club to a win over Bayern Munich.

BILD cover the Spanish manager today and how he’s becoming ‘more and more of a nightmare’ for the German giants.

They were beaten 1-0 by Aston Villa on Wednesday courtesy of Jhon Duran’s chip, their first defeat under Vincent Kompany and ‘the end of a mega series’

The Munich team had been unbeaten in the group matches, and the new league phase of the Champions League, for seven years before the defeat to Aston Villa.

That run saw them go an ‘insane’ 41 games without a defeat, 37 wins and four draws, until the defeat at Villa Park. Emery is the man being credited with masterminding that defeat and the end of that impressive record.

The last time they had lost a game in the group stages was to Paris Saint Germain in September 2017 and the opposition manager that day was the Aston Villa coach.

He also beat Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions league with Villarreal in the 2021/22 season. Only Jose Mourinho has managed the ‘triple win’ against them in the past, with Real Madrid Chelsea and Inter Milan.

It’s another feather in the cap for the Aston Villa manager, who Bayern will be glad to see the back of, or perhaps slightly saddened they didn’t manage to convince in the summer. We’ll let you take your pick on that one.
