Douglas Luiz’s latest transgression at Juventus since arriving from Aston Villa in the summer has led to praise for Scott McTominay, who Manchester United may now regret selling for €30m.
Journalist Sandro Sabatini provides the comments on the matter today via Tutto Napoli after an appearances on the Calcio Selvaggio podcast.
For those that don’t know, Douglas Luiz has been having a rough time of things at Juventus since joining the Italian side in a €50m move from Juventus in the summer.
He’s so far failed to convince Thiago Motta to hand him a starting role, with Weston McKennie ahead of him in the pecking order and when given a chance he’s failed to impress.
In contrast, McTominay has been treated like a God since arriving at Napoli in a €30m move from Manchester United at the end of August.
He’s slotted in perfectly at the club under Antonio Conte and won plenty of admirers early on particularly in a new role under the Italian coach.
They’re convinced they got a bargain in the deal with Manchester United and Sabatini feels the same, particularly compared to Juventus’ deal with Aston Villa for McKennie.
“Douglas Luiz played at Aston Villa and was valued at €50m, McTominay played at United and was valued at €30m. Both are returning from the Premier League. The first is a good player, but Napoli made the deal,” he said when comparing the pair.
