Billy Gilmour is yet to become a regular for Napoli since joining from Brighton, but he did start against Palermo in the Coppa Italia last week.
He only came off the bench against Monza at the weekend in Serie A, but the arrival from Brighton is already starting to make a mark in Naples.
Antonio Conte now seems to be gradually trusting him more, and Napoli pundit Enrico Fedele has looked at what the Scotsman has offered to the Partenopei so far in the heart of the park.
In a chat with Radio Marte, as relayed by AreaNapoli, Fedele noted that Gilmour has impressed him a fair bit despite not playing much for the club.
He said: “The one who struck me from his first appearances with Napoli, even without playing much, is Gilmour, for how he supports his teammates.”
“And he has a quality – he goes vertical immediately, as the De Zerbi school wants. Sooner or later, you’ll see, there will be changes in Conte’s team, because the Scotsman will gain space.”
The pundit went on to state that the Scotland international is a slightly different profile to Stanislav Lobotka. He also tipped the ex-Seagulls man to feature more often soon.
“In general, Gilmour carries the ball less and speeds up the game. At the moment, he could be, I wouldn’t say [just] a valid alternative.
“Because whoever is in better shape plays but he can gain ground. Because this boy has impressed me.”
So far, Gilmour has played only four games in Italy and while he will take some time to become more of a regular, Antonio Conte was key for the move to go through so is clearly a fan.
This suggests that the Italian knows exactly what he has in the midfielder and it won’t be a surprise if things quickly get better for Gilmour.
