Valerien Ismael has had ten managerial positions during his career in coaching, with his most recent role being at Watford.
With the Hornets not exactly known for their managerial stability, he lasted a short time and has been without a job since.
Being a free agent makes him easily available for new roles and Ismael recently attracted interest from Schalke.
Thuringer Allgemeine have reported that amidst the chaos around who the next Schalke manager will be, Ismael’s candidature emerged.
Karel Geraerts has been shown the door, and it’s reported the ex-Watford boss Ismael was ‘quickly removed’ from the German club’s shortlist. That is because – strangely enough, he stated that he isn’t available.
That is peculiar, considering how he’s without a job and his sacking from Watford took place back in March. The outlet doesn’t mention the exact reason why Ismael isn’t available but one explanation could be that he still has a contract with Watford and it will impact his compensation if he takes over at Scahlke.
Another reason could be that he’s seen the drama at Schalke in recent years, told them he’s unavailable, and quickly blocked the numbers of everyone associated with the German club.
