Ruben Neves left Wolves in 2023 and since then has been a star in Saudi Arabia for Al-Hilal.

He’s become a key player and something of a spokesman for how good life is as a footballer in the country. Still, many have pondered whether his Wolves exit, and primarily the destination, was the right idea.

Those questions will always linger around until Neves potentially returns to Europe but the midfielder has again spoke about being happy with his decision to join Al-Hilal.

In a chat with A Bola, he said he’s very satisfied with the choice he made and is happy where he is.

He said: Yes, without a doubt, my family is very happy, I have enjoyed football here a lot.

“As you saw, the atmosphere was great, it was a great game, and there were excellent players on the pitch. So, without a doubt, I made a good decision and I hope to continue to prove it and win titles.”

The Portuguese has been a regular for Al-Hilal this season, playing seven times in all competitions and assisting three goals.

He was also asked whether he’s managed to reach the peak of the form he showed in England when he played for Wolves.

“I definitely work hard for that. I also don’t want to lower my expectations. I always want to give my best, no matter where I am.

“That’s my big goal. So I think that mentality also makes a difference. And that mentality is what makes me feel so good physically. I feel really good and that’s how I want to continue.”

It is fairly clear from Neves’ words that he probably doesn’t have any plan to leave Al-Hilal anytime soon.

However, for someone who is still 27, there is still a lot of football left in his career and things change very quickly in the game.
