SC Freiburg’s Kiliann Sildillia has ended up on Chelsea’s radar, according to a report from France.
The right-back joined the Bundesliga side in June 2020 and has been part of their first team since 2021. He made 38 appearances last season and played six matches in all competitions this season.
Jeunes Footeux indicate Chelsea could provide tough competition to Marseille to sign the defender.
Pablo Longoria, the Ligue 1 side’s president, tried to attract the 21-year-old in the summer window. The possibility of signing him in January has been made difficult because of the Blues.
It’s claimed the Premier League side ‘now have the idea’ of bringing the Frenchman to the club in the winter market. Enzo Maresca currently has Malo Gusto and Reece James as the two right-backs at Stamford Bridge.
James hasn’t made an appearance this season as he’s been sidelined with injury since August. He’s struggled with injuries over the past few years, and this may have convinced the Blues to look for a new right-back.
Marseille are also interested in signing Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk on a loan deal. The report says the west London club have other plans for the Ukrainian winger.
Therefore, Jeunes Footeux state Marseille are in ‘great difficulty’ with regards to deals for Sildillia and Mudryk. It remains to be seen whether this claim about Chelsea’s interest in the defender will be backed up elsewhere.
