Two days ago, we covered claims from Italy which stated Manchester United have joined AC Milan in the race to sign AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana.
The midfielder has been waiting for the Serie A side, but they haven’t managed to agree a deal with Monaco so far.
Manchester United entering the chase has become a concern for Milan, and Calciomercato now provide the latest on these two clubs.
The Rossoneri were keen on signing Joshua Zirkzee before the Red Devils snatched him last month. Erik ten Hag’s side could repeat that, this time for the France international.
Calciomercato claim Monaco aren’t pleased that the Italian club have agreed a deal with Fofana before opening talks with them. On Thursday, Milan director Geoffrey Moncada had new contacts with the Ligue 1 side, to find a solution that satisfies all parties.
There’s no mention of the outcome of the meeting, while Milan face an ‘English threat’ from Manchester United. It’s claimed the Premier League side have had first talks with the 25-year-old’s agent over a potential deal this summer.
Milan need a ‘turning point’ to sign Fofana and that probably could come if they were to make an improved offer.
Calciomercato end the report by stating: ‘Moncada uses the path of diplomacy and if that isn’t enough, he will turn to Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Manu Koné.’
If this were to happen, it could make it easier for Manchester United to sign Fofana, who has less than a year left on his deal at Monaco.
