Pascal Groß is heading to the Premier League, Bild report. Currently playing for Ingolstadt, Groß is about to experience relegation from the Bundesliga, but he’s coming out of the season with an enhanced reputation.
So do Stoke City make sense?
Stoke have, albeit weakly, been linked to Ingolstadt’s Dario Lezcano and Orjan Nyland over the past few months. That would suggest Stoke have been watching the Bundesliga club.
If that’s the case then Stoke’s scouts will have been impressed by Pascal Groß, who is arguably Ingolstadt’s best.
Groß is a 25 year old German midfielder with four gaols and four assists so far this season. His skill set is mainly set-pieces, passes, and crosses. Should Stoke City be looking for someone in that category, then they could find much worse deals.
Charlie Adam’s contract ends in June, and in March The Stoke Sentinel reported the player was eager for a renewal. There’s been no advance reported since.
They’re not identical players, but to see Adam and his big wages leave, and Groß arrive, wouldn’t be such a strange scenario for Mark Hughes.
