Leeds United forward Marcus Antonsson has told the Swedish media he’s flattered he’s getting interest from some of the major clubs in his home country. The Swede only joined Leeds United last summer, but due to his lack of playing time it’s been reported he could head back to Sweden in the next window.
Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, Antonsson was asked about claims of recent interest from Allsvenskan clubs.
The Leeds United player said it gives an indication you must be doing something good on the pitch, but he is experienced enough to know these are just newspaper headlines. The forward confirmed his focus will remain with Leeds United, and that he isn’t planning on returning to Sweden just yet.
“It’s a sign that you have done something good. Of course it’s flattering when Allsvenskan big clubs want you. I have grown up with headlines, so of course it is flattering. But my focus is still on Leeds, and I know I’m far from done abroad,” said the Leeds United man.
Antonsson only played a handful of league games for Leeds United last season despite a promising start by the forward. The player seems insistent he wants to remain with Leeds United, but it would be no surprise if there’s an approach or two.
