Crystal Palace appear to be walking away from a transfer idea, after claims the player wouldn’t be that keen on joining the Eagles anyway.

Last week we covered a report from Italy that stated whilst the Premier League club were keen on Aster Vranckx, he was more tempted by a move to Fiorentina this summer.

It was suggested that all the Eagles could offer over La Viola is money, with the sporting project in Tuscany being of a higher level. That looked at least a little biased towards Fiorentina, especially given Oliver Glasner’s quick success with Crystal Palace.

The midfielder wants to leave VfL Wolfsburg this summer and the Bundesliga club are prepared to sell for around €12m.

Sunday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport reports Crystal Palace ‘seem to have let go’ of the idea to sign the Belgian, and have made that decision ‘in recent days’.

That of course leaves the path clearer for Fiorentina, but again this is all coming from the Italian media and could therefore carry at least a hint of bias.
