On June 13th, Takvim reported Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe are expected to battle it out for Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg in the summer window.
A week later, the same outlet reported Galatasaray are one of the clubs to have made an offer to the midfielder.
Last Friday, Sporx stated the Turkish champions wanted an answer from the Tottenham player after holding a meeting with his agent.
The Denmark international is the priority target for the Yellow Canaries to bolster their midfield. His contract lasts until 2025, and the report says the midfielder wants to leave Tottenham in this window.
Højbjerg was part of the Denmark squad who were knocked out of the Euros. This allows the interested parties like Fenerbahçe to now hold talks with him.
Fenerbahçe have appointed José Mourinho as their new manager and he knows the player well from his time at Tottenham. Sabah say the Portuguese tactician is the ‘biggest trump card’ for Fenerbahçe to sign the Dane.
They will have to agree a deal with Spurs, and it’s claimed Fenerbahçe’s officials ‘will start negotiations’ with the north London club ‘this week’ for Højbjerg.
