As West Ham United prepare for their final game of the season, Hammers’ star Lucas Paquetá is featured in an interview with ESPN Brasil.
The midfielder talked about how he feels about the club’s results and also the farewell of David Moyes, who’ll be walking out this summer.
Even though West Ham don’t fight for any particular objectives anymore, their match against Manchester City will obviously draw huge attention.
Paquetá claims they’ll do the best to try to beat Pep Guardiola’s side, saying the Citizens won’t have an easy task trying to confirm their Premier League trophy.
“Every game is important. In our case, we can’t ignore the fact that it’s a league decider. We have to see it as another important game for us,” he told ESPN Brasil.
“It’s a bigger responsibility for them, obviously, as they need to win to win the league.”
Regarding David Moyes’ farewell, Paquetá had some compliments towards the manager, not only because of their achievements at West Ham but also due to the relationship created at the club.
“I’m very grateful to the coach for what he’s done here,” he added.
“He’s made his mark on the club’s history by winning the Conference League, coming strong in European leagues. He deserves all my recognition for his achievements and he’s always been a very fair person, one who speaks in front of you, looks you in the eye and hugs you.”
“I’ve had a lot of coaches in Europe and not all of them are like him. He’s always been a very loyal person, so he deserves the recognition.”
West Ham are set to finish 9th in the Premier League, and just stayed a few points short from a place in the Conference League for the next season.
While Paquetá talks about Moyes’ departure, we must also wait and see if the Brazilian star will stay with the Hammers for another year.
